Support Our Program Through Donation or Fundraising
The SCI Recovery Project relies on the support of friends, family and community supporters like you to keep our program affordable for our clients. Our organization hosts two annual fundraising events: our spring Rounds for Recovery golf tournament and our fall Hops for Hope beer and wine tasting gala event.
Spinal Cord Injury Recovery Project is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Termed an “exercise based recovery program” our purpose is to offer hope, independence, and the possibility of recovery for spinal cord injury patients where previously there was none. While the benefits of programs like ours have begun to be recognized by the medical community, unfortunately insurance companies still do not.
Our program relies upon tax–deductible donations for its success. Donations can be made in any form, some of which are financial contributions, auction items, and corporate sponsorship.

SCI Recovery Project Internship Program
Intern Assistant Program: As a part of our one-on-one programs, the SCI Recovery Project schedules one Adaptive Exercise Specialist, and one Intern Assistant per client. This Intern Assistant position is an unpaid student from a local university, studying exercise science, physiology, or related program. Students typically receive school credit for the hours spent with this program through their respective university. Intern programs are strictly designed to not only provide hands-on experience to the student, but also to assist in education of exercise and the resulting affects on spinal cord injury. Students follow a specific curriculum and are required to complete assignments and study peer-reviewed journal articles that relate current research to the SCI Recovery Project program. We staff for 4-5 full-time Intern Assistant positions year round, which has consisted of anywhere from 4-25 individuals (either full or part-time).

Event Volunteers: SCI Recovery Project recruits volunteers from the local community to assist with our fundraising events each year. Past volunteers have been impassioned community members and supporters of our clients. In 2013, the Arapahoe High School Girls Soccer Team and Booster club filled the volunteer positions for our annual Recovery Steps 5K event as a part of their annual community service project. We utilize approximately 50-100 individual volunteers annually to facilitate our two annual fundraising events – the Rounds for Recovery Golf Tournament in the Spring, and Hops for Hope Beer and Wine Tasting Gala in the Fall.
Executive Liaison Volunteers: In addition to their standard board responsibilities, the Board members spend volunteer hours providing additional services including but not limited to operational, financial, and human resource consulting with the Executive Director. Cumulatively, we host an average of 150 executive liaison volunteer hours per year.
